![]() The application saves output.tga in the format used by Half-Life for detailed textures it's ready to use. The program will then calculate a detailed texture and save the file as "output.tga" in the same folder as the application. ![]() Here it is, the first alpha version of HLTex.ĭrag the low-res file into the first box, and drag the high res file into the second box. The rest is the same, except we are not using an existing half-life texture, we've generated one ourselves. The second application is similar to the first, except instead of using two source textures, we take a high-res texture, and calculate the low-res Half-Life texture from that. Hence it's completely backwards compatible. If it does, you can set r_detailedtextures 1 and gl_max_size 512 to use the high-res textures. In game, if your videocard doesn't support detailed textures, you don't enable them. We then scale the Half-Life texture up to match the size of the high-res texture, and basically reverse the method that Half-Life uses to apply detailed textures, to calculate the detailed texture, that if applied, will turn the low-res texture, into the high-res texture. ![]() In the first, we take a low-res Half-Life texture (The NS textures for example), and the high-res version of that same texture. Just pick up from where we left off in the old thread. We'll continue our discussion/work on this technique here. The scaling is messed up! Fortunately, these big patches are very rare so it's nothing to worry about,Īnd it doesn't crash or break the game at all.By calculating detailed textures I'm trying to fork off from the general Detailed Texture thread, because it's become long, and I can't update anything remotely close to the first topic. vmt files in these small patches i don't know why, and since the textures are bigger, i have tried in many ways, but nothing works. Unfortunately i don't know how to fix that. I know that in some areas the textures have small patches that look bigger than they should, Send an e-mail to if possible include screenshots! If you notice any weird bugs, glitches or if the mods cause you problems let me know! I'm currently testing Half life 2 Episode 2, and so far so good, everything is working fine! These mods can be used with the Update version of Half life 2, normal Half life 2, Episode 1 and in Synergy! If you don't see a "Custom" folder inside the hl2 folder, just create a folder and name it Custom. Steam\steamapps\common\Half-life 2 Update\hl2 If you have never installed mods, the Custom file is located inside the hl2 folder. If you've installed other mods, i'm sure you know where it is. To install these mods, Copy or Cut the VPK files ONLY into your Custom folder! Notice that the Airboat & Buggy mod is not recommended for Synergy. One is to give a wig to Dr Kleiner, another one paints the pistol black and the Magnum gold, and there's also one with upscaled textures for the Airboat and the Buggy. The mod once unzipped is around 800mb + a few bonus mods i made that you might want to use or not. You'll notice greater detail, especially when looking right at the textures up close. A few are upscaled originals, but most are completely new. There are approximately (i lost count) 140 textures in this pack. ![]() This is a HD 2k & 4k Texture pack for Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Update, Episode 1& 2 and Synergy.
